A Community Built on Stories
OurStory Community Hub CIC is a community-led organisation based in Derby, created to support immigrants, refugees, and individuals facing social and economic barriers. We provide a safe and inclusive space where people can share their stories, build confidence, develop digital life skills, and connect with others in the community.
Founded with a deep commitment to inclusion and belonging, we believe that every person — regardless of where they come from — deserves to feel valued, heard, and supported in building a fulfilling life in Derby and beyond.

Many people arriving in the UK or rebuilding their lives in a new environment face isolation, low confidence, and difficulty accessing support. OurStory Community Hub CIC exists to bridge that gap — offering connection, encouragement, and practical support in a trusted community setting.

Each programme is designed to build progressively — from trust and story to skills and community.
My Story
Trust-building and story sharing
We begin by creating a safe, welcoming space where participants can introduce themselves and begin to share their stories at their own pace. Trust is built through listening, empathy, and mutual respect.
Find Your Voice
Confidence and communication activities
Participants explore their own strengths through guided activities focused on self-expression, communication, and building the confidence to speak up and be heard.
Digital Life Skills
Smartphones, email, online tools & Google Translate
Practical, hands-on sessions covering essential digital skills for everyday life — from using a smartphone and sending emails to navigating online services and using translation tools.
Connect & Grow
Goal setting, connection, and next steps
In our final week, participants set personal goals, celebrate their progress, and explore next steps — whether that's joining further programmes, volunteering, or simply staying connected with the community.
